Hence I found this gateway. Droid supports changing the volume on the A2DP output, and I had no clipping on anything. and BT handsfree works great for calls still. But may people own ipods so this is something to strongly consider when deciding to buy this gateway.A final note, sometimes when I get in the car, the BT connection for this gateway doesn't quite auto connect. The phone actually switches *instantly* between this A2DP multimedia BT profile over to the BT profile for handsfree anytime I want to place a call or receive a call. And the steering wheel controls to make and receive a call work perfectly also.So the end result is excellent stereo BT audio for music and podcasts (love google listen app). My situation was this:* I have a car with BT handsfree (2009 Altima Coupe) and 3.5mm aux jack for music on the face of stereo* I have a droid I was connecting to the car with 3.5 to 3.5 cable for music and using BT for callsNow this was ok, but I hated having to connect the wire every time I get in, and the headset jack on my hardware was actually bad (I work at Mot so this was just early hardware, final Droid h/w has no such issue as far as I know). So I wanted a A2DP solution. I strongly believe this is an ipod issue and NOT an issue with this product.

Once connected, I drive for hours with no connection problems. With the ipod touch, it has a fixed volume out from the ipod for A2DP, and for some reason when connected with this gateway the audio on any of my moderately loud music (and by moderate I would say it really wasn't even "loud") would clip and sound terrible. It's just a initial powerup issue with BT sometimes. IMPORTANT NOTE however is that I tried two setups. I was worried that if I used this, my handsfree BT audio (for voice calls) would be lost, but I was pleasantly surprised. I would say about 30% of the time.

Just FYI, the audio quality on this device is AMAZING with the Droid. One was an ipod touch 2gen, and the other was my Droid. But it's easy to put a bluetooth shortcut on the droid, and in there quickly force a reconnection. Not that big of a deal to me, but just wanted to let you know.Justin

The downside is that the audio quality is not that great but better than most. It recognizes my phone every time, so now I can carry my music with me and it will automatically play my music once my phone is paired.

It is powered via a usb miniplug. I used this product to give my car's stereo headunit a bluetooth option.

You can turn it off manually by tapping the surface, but for me, I just keep it on and the power source governs the rest. Using a usb adapter spliced into my car's power, I am able to have this device turn on/off whenever my car is on/off.

Once the unit is powered, it will go right to work. Once your music streaming bluetooth device (A2DP) is paired, it will always connect whenever both units are on and within range.

There are minor distortions that are noticeable, but enough to live with.

This thing is amazing. I've used the the BlackBerry Remote Stereo Bluetooth Gateway with both the BB Bold 9700 and the Storm 1 9500. Streaming my Slacker Radio stations or pod casts from PodTrapper works seamlessly.Awesome for parties.

The product description says you can roam up to 30 feet away from the gateway. Volume control is also great. It automatically connects to my BlackBerry before I even enter the house.

If you decide a song in your playlist doesn't fit the mode, just hit next song. My experience is you can roam much further a field (not that you would really need to though). Its incredible simple to use.It brought new music back to my home.

Kent ps. It preformed to perfection with both devices.

You don't need a blackberry for this one - we're using it with a Motorola android phone and it works great.

This is a great, tiny, solid device that "just works." I have it wired into my car's head unit and tucked away in my closed ashtray, powered by an auxiliary cigarette lighter to USB adapter inside my dash. I have also A-B'd this with my hard-wired dock connector and found no difference in sound quality. It syncs seamlessly with my 3rd gen. iPod Touch and my iPhone 3Gs when I start the car - no need to open the ashtray and turn it on. With a little know-how and a connection to a switched power source, this is the perfect solution for wireless iPod audio in the car. I'm thrilled to say goodbye to those awful FM transmitters forever.
